DA'WAH IS REFORMATION, NOT JUST AN INFORMATION

 Sulaimon Saad Taiye

In the just-concluded 16th Annual Islamic Conference of Daaru Naim, Prof. Abdur-Razzaq Aláró summarized what preaching in Islam is all about in a simple term that needs no echo sounds for the dumb nor a megascope for the blind to see the fact. He said, and I quoted, "DA'WAH is reformation, not just information. If it's just information, what will the Prophet (ﷺ) be doing for twenty-three years? In fact, the conference for this year centralizes on the methodology of DA'WAH and the right manner to correct it and a deterrent to boycotting the ill-mannered supposed students that paraded themselves as scholars and hurled jargon, as they quoted beyond the box, just the text and little or no understanding of the context.

Dr. Jabata also related the submission of Ibn Qoyyum on every source of Shariah text that it's not just what's said but "من يريد" what the context really means. While he quoted the prophetic hadith, some people listened and worked through the text of the hadith without further in-depth meaning. He was saying this to buttress the fact that scholarship and DA'WAH are not meant for all and sundries to dabble into because of their little syntactic and morphological understandings. There is more to the text than just saying he  ﷺ said or Allah said.

What amazes me is that Dr. Faadil mentioned same things while explainingباب من أطاع العلماء والأمراء في تحريم ما أحل الله أو تحليل ما حرّم الله فقد اتخذها أربابا, In the Summary of Kitaabut-Tawhid of Shaykh Saalihu Fawzaan Al-FawzaanyHow the prophet did a welcoming hospitality to a companion, 'Adiyyi bn Haatim (Radiyyah lahu Anhu), while he was still a Christian, he ﷺ stood from his mat and laid it for him to show respect and welcome him. He cared less about his religion or how he is. This alone drew Adiyy to the prophet and paid a fully rapid intention to listen. Of course, he didn't leave the scene until he believed in the preaching of Islam. Dr. Then mentioned the manner of the preaching to the nonbelievers, the unbelievers, and the believers, which the prophet had demonstrated as what we should emulate.

As a student of knowledge, one will observe the following:

- Preaching is a calling not meant for all.
- Sources/and some sources are better left to the eminent scholars to explain.
- Scholarship demands intelligence, patience, and Allah's endowments.
- قلوب العارفين لها عيون (Their observations are an in depth and gifts of Allah.)
- The true scholars have differences, have common opinions, and didn't judge or address other names nor affiliate them to hell whatsoever.
