THE COMPANIONS: UTHMAN BN AFFĀN

UTHMAN IBN AFFAN (573-656 AD)

The possessor of two light
A gift from the Prophet due to his admiration and simplicity
The golden child of the Umayyad tribe
He is lettered then, when ignorance is a pride.

He was forgiven for his flight on Uhud
Rewarded for absent in Badr
For his credibility, the Ridwan Pledge of allegiance took place behind him
Yet, the prophet raised his right hand and clapped it over; This is for Uthman¹

The third reckoned successor of the Prophet
The liberator of the  slaves on Friday market
The saviour of the codex and manuscript of the Qur'an
The memorable establishment of Arab navy was from his ends.

In his tenure, benevolent institutions sprung up in Madinah
Alleged for kinship favouritism and extravagance
He stood is stance; "am rich and I eat from my own earnings"
He pardon the mischief-mongers with his tender heart and leniency.

Uthman, despite facing lack of support within his realm
In these challenging times, he took no Body guard for safety
in the hour of peril, he was rebelled and assassinated
He was buried at Baqi, the Muslim cemetery.
